Transport Ticketing

Mobile ticketing, the process whereby customers can order, pay for and receive a ticket to their mobile phone is experiencing a huge growth in popularity with both transport operators and consumers alike.

Reducing the significant financial overheads that are inherent with a paper based solution; Payzone's mobile ticketing solution can be seamlessly integrated into existing ticketing infrastructures, providing consumers with an additional distribution channel to purchase travel tickets.

Transport tickets can be delivered directly to a customer's mobile phone as either an SMS bar-coded ticket or a Java bar-coded ticket within a matter of seconds. All of our tickets are secure and encrypted, ensuring against duplication as they can only be used by the assigned mobile phone holder. A user's photo can also be encoded onto the same ticket for increased security measures.

Travellers also benefit from an improved consumer experience as tickets are instantly delivered to their mobile phones without any of the hassle normally associated with purchasing travel tickets. Lost tickets become a thing of the past as replacements can be reissued to the mobile phone in seconds.

Users simply scan the display of their mobile phone against the barcode reader as they get on and off a bus/train to register their journey or present their mobile ticket to a transport inspector on demand. As a result, travellers can enjoy a convenient and secure solution designed around their needs to buy, store and use tickets with their mobile phones.

How Does it Work?

  1. To purchase a mobile ticket, the customer must call the mTicket number advertised on the bus stop, tram stop or train station.
  2. The customer selects the appropriate journey details and fare type.
  3. The customer then selects their preferred payment type which can be either be a credit card, debit card, stored value account or mobile phone bill.
  4. The secure travel ticket is then delivered to the customer's handset as proof of purchase.
  5. This ticket can then be scanned upon boarding a bus or train or can be presented to a transport inspector on demand. The ticket is checked for validity and 'stamped' so it cannot be used again.
