PAYZONE PLC STRENGTHENS BOARD WITH APPOINTMENT OF EMER DALY

The Board of Payzone plc is pleased to announce the appointment of Emer Daly as a non-executive director with immediate effect.

Ms Daly, a chartered accountant who spent 14 years with PricewaterhouseCoopers, will become Chair of the Audit Committee, taking over from David Mills.


Ms Daly, 46, was previously a director and member of the Executive Committee at AXA Insurance Ireland. In a variety of roles between 1999 and 2006, she had responsibility for finance, strategic planning, risk management, fraud, underwriting and marketing.

At PricewaterhouseCoopers from 1984 to 1999, Ms Daly gained a wide variety of experience in audit, consultancy and transaction support work.

Since leaving AXA in 2006, Ms Daly has worked as a consultant and non-executive director. She has been a director of EirGrid plc, Ireland’s electricity transmission system and market operator, since 2001, and serves as Chairman of the Audit Committee.  She is also a director and Chairman of the Audit Committee of Friends Provident International Limited; Chairman of the Board of the Dublin Dental School and Hospital; a director and member of the Audit Committee of the Property Registration Authority; and a member of the Audit Committee of the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform.

Ms Daly lectures in risk management on the Corporate Governance Diploma in the UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School. She holds a BA in Economics from University College, Dublin, is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and is a member of the Corporate Governance Association of Ireland.  She was also a member of the civilian advisory group, chaired by Senator Maurice Hayes, that produced a report on the management and leadership of the Garda Siochana.

Ms Daly has confirmed that no further disclosures are required under Schedule 2 paragraph (g) of the AIM Rules.
